PC Developer News- ZeniMax Media Acquires id Software

June 24, 2009, Zenimax Media (Bethesda Softworks, parent company) acquired id Software, makers of famous FPS PC games, Doom, Wolfenstein, and Quake. This will combine Bethesda known for RPGs such as the TES Series and Fallout 3 with id experts for FPS games.

I have been following id Softwares upcoming title Rage, a racing/FPS PC game that looks very promising. Having a similar post-apocalyptic genre such as Fallout 3, it will be intriging to find out what the finished product will be with Zenimax's influence.

Personally I hope that id software will be able to fix some of the issues I had while playing fallout 3, such as bad ballistics and bad combat AI. They may also make use of id's graphics engine id tech 5. The graphics engine looks great, and I believe it is supposed to be quite optimized unlike Bethesda's.

Anyways I think that great things could come out of this, and I can not wait to see what happens.
